Our client is a foreign-owned company specializing in leather products. Originated from the US and Japan, they have now expanded to 6000 employees in their plants in China. Continued expansion in their company has created the need for a Chief Designer to head a Team of Designers.

Job Responsibilities

* Responsible for collaborating with Product Development Team
* You will develop items that compliment and extend the company brand by creating original concepts in style and color and by interpreting fashion trends.
* You have to produce sketches and make seasonal presentations of proposed designs
* You will also produce own tech pack for designs
* The Designer works in partnership with merchandising, sourcing and materials development
* Assist in the development of the complete concept for the season and adapt it appropriately to the individual merchandise areas as assigned
* Partner with Production and Sourcing to design merchandise that fits within the costing parameters and target customer profile of the brand strategy
* Develop customer intimacy by spending time in the stores
* Review the line plan with the merchants and agree on overall direction and content of the line for a season
* Create designs based on merchant line plan and incorporate feedback for finalization
* Present line to merchants in sample form at meetings
* Participate in collection hindsight after exit of each collection
* Attend trade shows as directed to gain insight into future trend

Job Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in Design or equivalent experience
* Highly collaborative interpersonal working style with background in working the merchant-design Interface
* A minimum of 5 years related experience in design
* Highly creative and innovative with strong fashion sense
* Sound understanding of materials and costs
* Ability to create tech packs
